Cape of Good Hope
About the Area
The Cape of Good Hope is a rocky headland on the Atlantic coast of the Cape Peninsula in South Africa. It is often mistakenly thought to be the southernmost tip of Africa, but that title actually belongs to Cape Agulhas, located further southeast. However, the Cape of Good Hope is significant because it marks the point where ships sailing around Africa begin to travel more eastward than southward.
